Carpets come in a variety of plain shades and patterns, wool or manmade fibres, plush piles or dense. The long term performance of any carpet depends on more than whether it is an "80/20" or a 40 ounce pile weight as wool comes from a variety of sources and pile weights can be arrived at in a variety of means. Here at Avonvale Carpets we aim to compare like with like, giving you the relevant facts in order to make an informed choice.
All carpets shade but some show this less than others. All textured carpets ("berbers" as they used to be known) fluff or "pill" to give it the technical term but some are more prone than others. Not all carpets are stainproof but depending on the raw materials used some will clean easier than others.

Natural carpets created by nature and crafted by man come in a variety of materials such as seagrass, coir, jute and sisal. These can be supplied as fully fitted on underlay or as bordered rugs made to size. Here at Avonvale Carpets we pride ourselves on being absolute specialists in the supply and fitting of these products. We will carefully guide you through the various qualities, fibres and colours to make the right choice for your particular installation.
Underlay. . Having taken the time to select a carpet it is equally important to buy the right underlay for the job. Here at Avonvale Carpets we work closely with manufacturers to get products that do the job but are recyclable if at all possible. We have a range of underlays that give excellent support to your carpet even under the most trying of circumstances.
Kitchens and Bathrooms are suited to either stain resistant carpets or vinyl. Here at Avonvale Carpets we have partnered with Halls Flooring who are probably the largest vinyl stockists in the country and with all sorts of designs ranging from very convincing wood effects to "funky" you are bound to find something you like.
Bespoke Designs. . You have an idea in mind, have looked but can't find it anywhere! At Avonvale Carpets we have access to the Carpet 1st Tailor Made collection of woven axminsters available in 100's of designs that can be coloured to suit your decor from as little as 20 sq metres. We also work with a specialised privately owned wilton manufacturer making clients own designs be it a Chlidema carpet such as the one in The Pump Room or a fully fitted carpet throughout your home. Our full design service offers computer printouts with hand trials at a later stage in order to check that things are "just right."

Plain Carpets
The most popular carpet around today is the woolrich twist. The resilience of the twisted pile helps
the carpet keep its original look for longer than most but a word of warning: There is more to a twist than
just being 80% wool or of a certain pile weight! Is the raw yarn branded or recycled? You can make a carpet
heavier by simply increasing the pile height! We will steer you through all the intricacies of the melee of
twists available.
Other plain styles are velvets which give that luxury feel and can be tufted in construction or woven.
Patterned Carpets
Like most things the traditional Axminster seems to be coming a thing of the past. We are dealers for companies
such as Axminster Carpets in Devon, Ulster Carpets in Craigavon and Whitestone Weavers in Yorkshire where the
tradition of weaving has been around for centuries. Shown in larger samples there is much to see but failing that
we can also have them produced bespoke to your taste from 100’s of suggested designs at extremely reasonable prices.

We also supply patterned manmade Wilton carpets which give you performance but at a bargain price.
Natural Floors
The secret of a good Natural floor is the fitting and we are proud to have one of the best fitters of natural flooring
on staff. Over the last 10 years we have become extremely skilled in our advice in this area of carpeting that most
retailers either play at or shy from! We are so confident in our ability in this type of carpeting that our
“Personal Guarantee extends to cover these installations.
Coir
Probably the longest-standing of all the plant fibre floor coverings it is the natural solution for busy spaces. Its strong
fibres and highly textured finish are well able to withstand all the wear and tear of modern life. The fibre comes from coconut
husk and gives an interesting rustic look to the carpet.
Sisal
Grown in Brazil and East Africa, traditionally used in rope-making, sisal is an organic fibre that makes a beautiful, strong
floor covering that can be used in most areas of the home. Available in an array of colours, smart designs and finishes and
can be used in every area of the home.
Seagrass
Grown in China in paddy fields Seagrass is inherently strong and resilient but smoother than coir. Seagrass is a simple and
natural alternative for beautiful floors throughout the home but experience tells us not to use it on stairs! As a fibre it is
naturally stain resistant and surprisingly impermeable by moisture.
Jute
Grown in the hot, damp regions of Asia, harvested by hand and dried in the sun, jute is an extraordinary fine natural fibre with
a silky soft lustre that transforms any interior. It is suited to areas of the home such as sitting rooms and bedrooms as opposed
to heavier used areas such as passageways and stairs.
Wool
The most familiar of all natural fibres, wool has been used to make carpets for the best part of 5000 years. In tune with today's
interiors the designs, natural tones and weaves of the textured wool carpet lend an exciting new dimension to any home.
Kitchen Carpets
The modern kitchen carpet is nowadays available with a bleach cleanable surface pile and water resistant backing. These plainer,
stylish carpets will compliment any modern or traditional kitchen finish and the fade resistant nature of this type of carpet make
an ideal solution for conservatories and utility areas
Smooth Floors
Often referred to as "Lino" or "Vinyl" we can supply all major brands of sheet vinyl as well as some own brand popular priced ranges.
We can take care of any installation and include floor preparation if required. Again the secret of any vinyl floor is the fitter and
you won’t be disappointed with ours!
We can also supply LVT – or luxury vinyl tiles – similar to Karndean and Amtico but from other manufacturers as well as laminate floors.
