Avonvale Carpets is privately owned by hands-on partners Paul Ivory and Jim Ironside. With over 70 years of combined experience – all of which has been in the flooring trade – there is little that they don’t know. However they do not have a “know it all” attitude and rank customer service as their number one priority.

Both learnt the carpet industry from “the bottom up” in traditional department stores where “Customer Service” was paramount. This solid grounding has been the basis of their commitment to their clients by means of their “Personal Guarantee.”

Over many years they have built strong links with manufacturers and distributors – often visiting factories to keep up to speed – which have served to create relationships based on trust and respect. They are also part of one of the country’s leading buying groups - the Metro Group who, together with over 110 other fully independent shop owners, offer manufacturer ranges at competitive prices. It is no mistake that the brand name of Metro is “Carpet 1st”

Steve Rochester joined the company fresh out of school as a trainee fitter in 2002. Fully trained in the traditional way Steve took over as our main fitter in 2006 and was joined by Aaron Tessier later that same year. Together they make a great team and comments such as “we would particularly like to compliment you on the quality/general manners of your fitting staff” – R. E. Down – are not unusual.
